You can choose from a number of market-leading internships, offering between 12 to 18 months’ fixed term employment. You'll receive a monthly stipend, plus invaluable coaching.

To apply, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30
  • Be able to speak, read and write English
  • Be computer literate
  • Not be permanently employed
  • Not be studying at another tertiary institution.

Marketing plays an integral role in the Corporate and Investment Banking business and includes general marketing practices alongside specialist areas such as digital marketing, social media, communications, eventing, content and more.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative Marketing Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in marketing principles, including a keen interest in digital marketing practices, along with a passion for learning. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects such as contributing to marketing campaigns, running and executing campaign activity, reports, audits and more.

The CIB Marketing internship is a 12-month programme for graduates who would like to develop their marketing knowledge and gain work experience.

Internship details:
Start Date: 15 January 2025
Learner Allowance: R10,000 per month
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate must be:

  • A South African citizen.
  • Aged 18-30.
  • Fluent in English (speak, read and write).
  • Have successfully completed an undergrad degree or diploma in Marketing.
  • Have an interest in digital marketing.
  • Computer literate.
  • Not permanently employed.
  • Not studying at any other institution.
  • Not registered on any other learnership.

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey into the world of Salesforce? Standard Bank invites passionate and driven individuals to join our Salesforce Internship programme, where you’ll receive training, coaching and hands on experience.

Cloud Computing, 18 - month programme

Cloud Engineers are scarce skill globally and there is a high demand for cloud engineering skills in the market. This is a skill you want to have on your CV and possibilities are endless. Skills you can learn include cloud infrastructure, cloud security, cloud data engineering and machine learning. Expose and coaching by our AWS and Microsoft Azure Leads.

Automation Engineering, 18 - month programme

Automation Technology teams specialises in driving automation solutions to add value to our customers in a meaningful way. We are looking for exceptionally talented, bright and driven people to join our team and drive an automation led culture.

If you are passionate about Innovation and want to be at the forefront of driving automation in Standard Bank, this 18 month internship programme will enable you to grow in this specialized field. Under the coaching of our Automation leads you will gain experience regarding End-to-end Automation solutions within various automation streams.

Frequently asked questions
Can I apply to open roles while I am on a programme?
Yes.
Does an intern automatically get offered a permanent position after completing the Internship programme?
No. Interns need to follow the recruitment process and apply for a permanent position through the Standard Bank Group career website, based on the current opportunities available.
Does Standard Bank Group assist with furthering my studies?
Not while completing the internship programme. Should you be placed in a permanent role, you can apply for a bursary if you wish to continue studying.
Do I have to pay back the investment should I resign from the internship programme?
There is no pay-back or work-back agreement attached to the internship programme. This means that if you left the organisation, you wouldn't have to pay back any investment made during the course of the programme.
Do I need to have work experience to be considered for the Internship Programme?
This may be a requirement for certain programmes. Please refer to the minimum requirements for the internship programme you're applying for.
Do you consider Grade 12 students?
No, internships are offered to individuals who have post Grade 12 (Matric) qualifications.
Do your programmes cater for people with disabilities?
Yes. We have an inclusive culture, and are open to reasonably accommodating special needs in the workplace.
I'm not a recent graduate – can I apply?
Yes, any individual between the ages of 18-30 can apply for any of our Learnership programmes. The minimum requirement is programme specific.
I don’t have a completed post Grade 12 (matric) qualification – can I apply?
No, all our internships require a minimum of a post matric qualification.

Our Early Careers programmes are designed in a way that ensures we can provide every single person with an entire support ecosystem during their time with us. From structured learning plans to access to digital content, a workplace coach, a mentor, learning partners, programme managers and people cultures, on our programmes you'll find everything you need to secure your success.
What can I expect as a salary?
Interns earn a monthly stipend rather than a salary. This is an allowance which enables you to travel to and from the workplace or training institution, is in line with The National Minimum Wage Act 9 of 2018 (NMWA), and is determined by the cost and complexity of the programme.

Our specialist programmes mostly run in Johannesburg, although other programmes are offered nationally.
