Case study: Solar PV asset solution
A farmer needed a financing solution to fund the installation of a solar PV system to generate electricity for own consumption.
Challenges
- Our client had been spending over R300 000 per month on electricity costs.
- Due to the rising electricity costs, the client wanted alternative energy solutions to be implemented to reduce the monthly cost, and for the system to be paid by the savings generated from the system.
- To meet the energy needs of the farm the, our client approached an EPC who studied their load profile and proposed and designed a grid-tied solar pv solution to supply solar power to the farm which required financing of the solar assets and installation work.
Solutions
- Our renewable energy technical experts reviewed the proposal from the EPC visited to assess the capacity of the EPC to carry out the work as well as the technology proposed for the design.
- A model was prepared to assess if the system is cash neutral for the tenure of loan being considered.
- Based on our assessment, we were able to provide asset financing to our client for the solar assets.
