Wegwysers Deur die Blinkuur

Discover the Inspirational Art of Stephané Edith Conradie at the Standard Bank Art Gallery

Step into Wegwysers Deur die Blinkuur, an exhibition where Stephané Edith Conradie’s work becomes a beacon, guiding us through the complex legacies passed down through generations. This mesmerising collection invites you to explore a space where art, memory, and identity converge. Join us for a sneak-peek walk-through and embark on a journey of discovery and reflection.

As a Print Media lecturer at University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art, Stephané’s research explores her social and economic realities in South Africa, informed by her extensive academic background.

Wegwysers Deur die Blinkuur poses a profound question: What happens when the next creole generation does not embrace their parents’ material culture? Set against the backdrop of the twilight moments before passing, this exhibition explores how rituals and practices are made more alluring at the golden hour before death.

For over four decades, Standard Bank has been at the forefront of championing the Arts in Africa, nurturing creativity and empowering young artists.

Join us from 1 September to 31 October 2024 at the Standard Bank Art Gallery, as we continue this legacy and celebrate a quarter-century of art excellence.
