Phuka Incubator Program
Phuka Incubator program a training program that aims to strengthen the capacity of SMEs with high growth potential, to make them more competitive and sustainable in the long term.
Standard Bank in partnership with Winrock International and GIZ is calling on all Malawian women owned and/or women-led businesses focusing on food systems/agribusiness value chains, including production, processing, aggregation, trading, input supplying (Agro-dealers), CSA technologies, ICT and advisory services to apply for the #PhukaWomenInAgric program. This is a Hybrid, self-paced program that runs for a period of 6 weeks.

Those who join the program will have access to the Phuka Hub, situated in area 12, (Synergy complex) where they can share co-working space, meeting rooms and use the venue for events. Call 242 for more details
Successful participants shall benefit from the following:
- Masterclasses – Facilitated by experts in business training and skills development.
- Business Clinics – One-on-one coaching and business advisory support.
- Infrastructure – Flexible co-working space and access to meeting rooms.
- Social Capital – Access to networks and strategic partnerships
- Business Community – Peer-to-peer engagement and post-programme support
- New Market Linkage - Access to trade stakeholders that can link you to new markets.
- Certification – issuance of certificate upon completion of the programme
- Investment- readiness – Those that complete the program will have access to loans at a preferential rate (minimum eligibility requirements will still apply). With an opportunity to linkage with Investors.
Furthermore, participants will have access to business clinics on Leadership, Civics and Ethics sessions which will be conducted to harness a new generation of business leaders, with ideals.
We are looking for women led SMEs in Agribusiness. Specifically in soy, groundnuts, banana, chilli, honey, rice and aquaculture.
Eligibility:
- Must be aged between 20 and 50 years’ old.
- Must be a Malawian citizen with a National ID
- Must be legally registered with the Malawi Registrar (Proof to be submitted on registration)
- Must have an already existing business for a minimum of 2 years.
- Registered business Turnover in excess of K30m annually / at-least K1.5m per month
- Must have a business plan or proposal with an outlook of projected future performance and underlying assumptions.
- Geographical area of intervention or impact is Ntchisi, Dowa, Kasungu, Nkhata-bay, Mzimba, Rhumphi, and Karonga.
- Must be willing to grow their business minimum to the level where they can employ at least 3 people.
- Must have a scalable business model.
- Must have resources to attend an online business incubation program with English as the main language.
- Must have basic Microsoft Excel skills.
- Must be willing to travel to the chosen location for the closing ceremony
- Application must done through the online application form as provided HERE
- Submission must include the following information from applying organization:
- Business registration details.
- Business Profile- which specifies what the business is about, how long they have been in operation, revenues generated, number of employees and what their growth ambitions are.
- A brief summary of your product/ services.
