The only way without is within 2023 Acrylics and ink on canvas

My artwork is influenced by my life experiences. It reflects my thoughts and inspirations. The work is characterized a drawing technique known as pointillism, which is a method of dot making on a surface. The dots are a metaphor and symbol for exercising patience.

Corinda Strick

Storm 2021 Acrylic on canvas

My artwork is inspired by the idea that creativity can be used as a language to communicate when we are unable to do so with words.

Craig Aitken

Black-Chested Snake Eagle [Triptych] 2020 Photography

My photographs are inspired by nature. These photographs were taken on a late afternoon at Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Johannesburg of a Black-Chested Snake Eagle.

Ezrom Ratshilo

Tebile/Soul Gazing’ 2022 Acrylic On Canvass

I use my artwork as a form of storytelling and a way of highlighting important societal issues. The work is characterized by my bold use of colour and lines that create non-representational forms.

Georgina Riba

Hybrid sidelamps 2023 Beadwork

My work is sculptural and functional in that I reuse and redesign sidelamps from old candle holders. The sidelamps function as both a candle holder and an electric powered sidelamp – making them versatile and multifunctional. The lampshades are beaded and inspired by different African prints.

Gerda Burger

Walking into the light 2021 Oil on Canvas

I take my inspiration from my surroundings, which in turn informs which medium I use. My journey in art is guided by my spirituality and what I think God would like me to create.

Makgotso Ntai

2023 Acrylic on paper

My paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia in how they depict everyday faces. I use acrylic paint to portray bold yet intricate expressions that create layers of depth in my art.

Manoa Andriamiharisoa

The exaggerated swagger of a young girl 2023 Polaroid

My art is inspired by a combination of both classic and contemporary practices in photography. I use Polaroid photos and assemble them into an image that then creates new meaning in the work.

Margriet Van den Berg

Life and beauty on the steps in Mykonos 2018 Photography

I take photographs to grow my understanding of the world through travel. Travelling to a new place, allows one to experience a different time and place, and get a blink of the life of others. It offers one opportunity to immerse themselves into different histories, cultures, and traditions.

Michela Zanetti

Seashells 2023 Watercolour

My artwork is inspired by nature and the importance of protecting and safeguarding the environment and preserving our delicate South African coastal ecosystems. This watercolour painting is of an indigenous shell collected on (and returned to) the pristine beaches of the Garden Route.

Phumzile  Mavuso

Handcast 2023 Sculpture

I love making casts as a way of preserving lifelong memories. The two sculptures are about best friends, engagements, couples or any two people who have connection and want to immortalise their connection.

Rushay Booysen

The Blues 2023 Digital Photograph

Photography is a medium I use to archive and tell stories through my viewfinder. My photographs are an exploration of questions around identity, music and popular culture.

Simphiwe Nkosi

The Artist 2019 Photograph taken with Samsung SM-G973F

My artistic expression draws from the surrealism movement which speaks to the use of the imagination to best articulate how the mind can bend time and space while using reality as reference to produce what has never been seen before.

Tamaryn Stalker

Expression of Growth 2023 Acrylic pour

My work is abstract and tries to express my thoughts and life’s journey through the movements of the paint. For this work I used a technique that combines acrylic paint and water mixture on a stretched canvas. I then used my fingers to manipulate the paint in the direction I wanted it to go – speaking metaphorically of life’s struggles and triumphs.

Vuyisiwe Moleshe

The Source 2022 Ink on Paper

My doodles are an abstract expression of beauty and paradise. The lines I use meander an endless journey of thought and a stream of consciousness. Each piece is unique in that it tells a different story not only through the lens of the creator but also through the eyes of the observer.
