Sport sponsorship initiatives

Standard Bank is a proud sponsor of leading and innovative sporting initiatives. Over the years, our contribution to the development of sporting programmes within the growing markets that we operate in has significantly helped elevate the role of sports in Africa’s growth story.

In developing sports, we nurture the enthusiasm, drive, and commitment of our people, resulting in deepened bonds with our continent.

Our sponsorships of Standard Bank IRONMAN and the Confederation of African football (CAF) is a demonstration of our commitment to the development of the continent.

Through our sponsorship of the CAF championship over a period of 8 years, Standard Bank took the lead and became highly involved in football development. As a platform where Africa’s biggest talents come together, the sponsorship has been crucial in nurturing what the continent has been able to produce while developing future football enthusiasts. Standard Bank IRONMAN has been an exhilarating accomplishment which has seen an elusive sporting title being successfully transformed into a coveted sport.

Currently Standard Bank is the only African organisation to be a sponsor of CAF and CAF is the only commercialised pan-African sponsorship property providing opportunity to leverage a sponsorship across many markets.

Standard Bank and IRONMAN South Africa entered into a sponsorship partnership that will secure the long-term sustainability of one of the country’s premier endurance events while at the same time enabling Standard Bank to extend its brand reach to the fast-growing sport of triathlon.Triathlon – and IRONMAN in particular – exemplifies all the qualities that Standard Bank stands for: hard work, dedication, endurance and commitment. Ironman offers Standard Bank a single entry point into all three sporting codes.
